I'm a dumpling brat. If the world ends tomorrow, I would probably choose dumplings as my last meal. Given this information, you might not want to take my review into consideration if you are just a simple dumpling eater.Pretty sure my frozen dumplings taste better than most of the dumpling dishes here. The only dumpling dish I would recommend to order here is probably the soup dumplings. Only because I can't buy the frozen soup dumpling at the store. And even so, the dumpling skin is way to thick to enjoy.I would give it 2 stars for the dumplings, but I think it deserves a 3-star rating only because the price here is very reasonable. If you are ordering their other dishes it's definitely worth the price, but I just won't recommend ordering the dumplings.

Went a little wild here lon lunch and tried a bunch of stuff. The green onion pancake was great, highly recommended. The almond chicken was okay, but nothing special. Tried out a few different types of dumplings and they too were just middling. Also, the water tastes mad sketchy, so we had to swap to soda. Nice people and solid service.

Mann.. dumplings were awesome and it will not dent your wallet. It is typical China town server and location.. so if you're on a date I would not suggest this place. If you like dumplings, this place has a variety of them. I think 2 orders is good per person but I would go with 3-4 so you can try more of the options.

Kind of spartan interior, but the food is good. It's a nice change from the masses of Hunan style Chinese, Pho/Sandwhich Vietnamese, or Thai around Houston. Definitely for the boiled, not fried dumplings. I think all the table sauces are hand made and delicious.

This place is not what I expected, not even close. My search for Great Chinese is almost as bad as my search for real Northeast Thin Crust Pizza (Help anyone)? Especially when it comes to Dumplings (Over a dozen choices? For real??? Yes!!!). They are so good, I've yet to eat anything else, I just order some Hot and Sour Soup, and a 10 pack of Steamed Veggie, or maybe fried Pork ? I assume its all just as good (although maybe not)The reviews on here brought me in, and I only hope that my review on here will bring you in. I've been driving by since moving to Houston a year ago from the Northeast. And since moving here I've tried dozens of Chinese restaurants, with dismal and disappointing results. I talked about going in here, but based on the location, and the lack of windows, I resisted and kept trying the "other" places in the "nicer" parts of town. All I can say, I will only come here for Dumplings again, and again, and again..... I have found my favorite Houston spot, and the search is over.I could explain my meal, the flavors, the dumplings (oh the dumplings), and the incredible employees, but all I can say, is go!!! Don't expect much, its unassuming, but worth it.BTW, parking sucks..... just be patient, cars leave often.

I promise I'm not that picky when it comes to eating food but this place was disappointing. I've had way better dumplings and green onion pies elsewhere. Dumplings and the green onion pie were both soggy. The green onion pie was all crust, no green onions, and seemed old.Pork & Shrimp Dumpling - 2.5/5Green Onion Pie - 2/5The only thing I'll praise this place for is their friendly staff and the minced jalapeno sauce served with the dim sum.

This place is in a strip center and is very unassuming. It is a no fuss kind of place with delicious homemade dumplings. We ordered a mixture of steamed and pan fried dumplings and the green onion pancake. Everything was hot, fresh and tasty. They put soy sauce, vinegars, and hot sauces all on the table so that you can make your own dumpling sauce concoction. We'll definitely be back!

I'll start by saying that I've been coming here pretty regularly for years now and the place has yet to disappoint. I always get the same thing - pan fried chicken dumplings with the wonton soup. Sometimes the food takes a little while - it can get quite busy for lunch - but I forget about it as soon as my food arrives. The best part to me is the fact that they give you soy sauce, vinegar, oil, ginger, and peppers so you can make your own special dumpling sauce. The decor is kind of drab and the air conditioning will sometimes make you freeze but with this food, I can't complain too much.

We've eaten here on and off over the years, and the experience and food seems to differ each time.I most recently came in to order some food to go. The lady owner/manager was her usual not-so-friendly self, and seemed ready for the evening to come to an end. Anyhow, after a wait, I finally got to order, and proceeded to wait a good 20 minutes or so before the food was ready. Since it was a while since we've last been here, I checked out some of the recommendations, and here's what I ordered:Veg Dumplings - 2/5 for taste, 3/5 because they offered a veggie optionPork Dumplings - 3/5Pork & Shrimp Dumplings - 3/5Green onion pancake - 2/5Egg rolls - 1/5So it was okay. Yes, its awesome having a dumpling place outside of Chinatown, and that's mostly what I appreciate them for. Maybe the take away was a bad option, but it really wasn't all that and a bag of chips. I was surprised how untasty the green onion pancakes were since there were several good reviews for them, but it didn't have much flavor and tasted like a tortilla. The egg rolls were a big fail, don't even go there. We'll maybe try and dine-in again since I get that when fresh dumplings sit too long, they just won't taste the same. This place is no Shanghai Dumplings, but being able to save some drive time is appealing.

We stumbled here by accident. Boyfriend and I had just finished shopping st the Galleria when I realized I was in the mood for dumplings. Originally, we were going to go all the way to Bellaire to get some but GoogleMaps said "OH LOOK! THIS ONE IS CLOSER, SAME NAME, DUMPLING KING!". Reviews looked good, let's go!Dumplings - Ordered steamed assorted and pan fried shrimp dumplings. Steamed dumplings were okay but all the fillings tasted the same, no real distinction except between the meat dumplings and the veggies dumplings. Fried dumplings were not fried to perfection as well as DK off of Bellaire. They were fried, and then possibly steamed?Won Ton soup is better than what you get at those chinese buffets but not spectacular where you would go home to mama to rave. I got the Pepper Chicken Dinner Special and it was too salty, but enough food to fill me.Overall, VERY CHEAP, you get decent food.I will not cheat on you again with your evil twin brother your majesty.(Will remain faithful to Bellaire)

I came to this place because of all the yelp reviews on it. Some things I had mixed feelings about, but nevertheless, I would def come back again. The service was excellent. The waitress was very helpful and didnt bother me while I was trying to have my lunch and get some work done on my laptop at the same time. Now on the food:I ordered hot tea since Ive lost my voice recently to sxsw and wanted something to soothe my throat. This did the trick. It was very simple, just a teabag in a metal pot with a small hot tea cup. The wonton soup was a disappointment. The wontons were the thick skin generic americanized wontons. The soup broth was plain. They tried to add some napa to it but the napa was raw and tasteless. now on to the dumplings, afterall, thats what people go to Dumpling King for right? I ordered the chicken and chives steam dumplings and a combo plate of pan fried dumplings. The chicken and chives were mediocre. Maybe I was biased steam versus pan fried but I found that i enjoyed the pan fried dumplings much more. It was fried just the perfect amount. I then also got a kao po shrimp to-go as the lunch special. I was very impressed with the dish.Ask for the chili oi, add a little bit of it to your soy sauce. Its the perfect dip for the dumplings ;)

This place is a total dive -- a hole in the wall place with a TV, an often ringing phone, and senior citizen customers at 5:30 taking over the place. It reminds me a lot of Californian Chinese restaurants with their laminate tile flooring and funky seating. However, let's speak of the reason I came -- for the food. $11.24 with tax got me (6) xiao long bao (siu lung bao), a single cup of egg drop soup, the green onion pancake, and hot tea. Not so bad. The steamed pork dumplings were simply out of this world. They come out really hot (like scald-your-mouth hot) and are extremely fresh. I'd say that they are a little too big to eat in one mouthful, which is a delicate matter in not letting the soup leak out. One of the employees makes ~2,000 fresh every day. The pancake was delightful, too. I recommend throwing some soy sauce and the fresh minced ginger on it.If you need a tip NOT to scald your mouth eating these dumplings, here's my recommendation:1. Take a little bite off the top to let it steam without all the juices falling out.2. Pour a drop or two of soy sauce in there. Pop some ginger, to taste.3. If you like it hot, ask for hot mustard, or put the jalapeño mixture on it.4. At this point, it should be a little cooler. For good measure, maybe blow a little on the top.5. Consume. They accept Visa, MC, and Discover. (Not AmEx)

Not a bad place but not that good. They have a good selection of dumplings but I think the most amazing thing was the fresh ginger sauce and oils !! Stick to appetizers and dumplings. I tried chicken cashew yuck and another lunch special was not much better !! The white meat chicken is too dry and the sauces are lack luster bland. The green onion pancake was nice. Good service but really just for dumplings. It's a real hole in the wall seriously, no atmosphere and really too warm inside.
